Each weekend ski racers don their helmets, clamp on knee armor, wear shielded gloves, and use shoulder pads. While perhaps not always as glamorous as ancient knights dressed for battle, these warriors face a challenging foe: The mountain. Sometimes courses are icy.
“It’s an adrenalin rush,” reflects one racer. “It’s not all about winning. It’s also about friendships.”
For a casual skier racing marries technique and tactics. For  many skiers racing offers an opportunity to test their mettle against the mountain.
