Voters turn back petition, school to stay open

READSBORO- The town’s elementary school will remain open, Readsboro voters decided Wednesday evening.
With a turnout of 260 voters, almost 45% of the town’s 579 registered voters, 91 voters, or 35%, cast ballots in favor of a petitioned question seeking to close the elementary school and tuition all Readsboro students.  But it was the “no” voters who carried the day, with 166 votes, or 64% of the vote total.
