Virus “not runaway train, yet” says top doc

MONTPELIER- Gov. Phil Scott began his Friday briefing on a somber note, acknowledging the loss of another Vermonter to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths due to the virus to 62 at that time.
“After months without a single death, we’ve sadly lost four more Vermonters in the last two weeks,” Gov. Scott said. “With more than 148 positive cases reported yesterday, and 146 will be reported today, we will continue to see very concerning growth. Every single one of us has a responsibility to help slow this down, protect our loved ones, and preserve our hospital capacity.”
