EEE a “remote risk” for all Vermonters, according to health department

VERMONT - Detection in recent weeks of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) hit an all-time high in Vermont. State testing has revealed the presence of the virus in 75 mosquito pools this summer. That number is more than three times the previous record for positive detection in mosquito pools in Vermont, which was 23 in 2013. As a result, state officials have labeled the entire state to be at “remote risk” for exposure to the disease, with some towns, including as far south as Rutland County, at “high risk.”
