DEERFIELD VALLEY- Properties in the Deerfield Valley have been targeted in a bold real estate con by scammers who may be halfway around the world.  
The scam begins when scammers gather public information on a property, usually land or a vacant building, and impersonate the owner.  The properties can be sold remotely “by owner” or listed with a real estate agent.  Typically, as soon as the scammer gets a down-payment on a property they disappear, leaving a murky trail of bank transfers behind them, and the seller and real estate agent holding the bag.
