MONTPELIER- At Vermont’s weekly COVID press briefing on Tuesday, Agency of Education Secretary Dan French explained the intention to maximize in-person learning through a new response-testing program to reduce student and staff quarantine times using two different types of COVID tests.
Currently, when a student comes into close contact with a person testing positive for the virus, they go into quarantine. But under the new program, they can be tested daily with the more rapid antigen test, which returns results in minutes instead of days.
