Deerfield Valley Players present “Chicago”

WILMINGTON - The Deerfield Valley Players will present the musical “Chicago” at Memorial Hall on Thursday to Saturday, August 25, 26, and 27. Doors will open at 7 pm and performances will start at 7:30 pm.
Broadway’s longest running musical, “Chicago” is set in the Jazz Age and based on a 1926 play by reporter Maureen Watkins. The story is inspired by actual criminals and the crimes of the day presented as a satire on the criminal justice system and the concept of the “celebrity criminal.” Music is by John Kander, with book and lyrics by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse.
The show stars Lauren Sumner and Allison McGahie as Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly and highlights many area performers. Supporting cast includes: John Iverson, George Adair, Carrie Blake, Caden Adair, Paul Jensen, Kate Brown, Patrice Schneider, Cyndal Ellis, Brandy Reynolds, Ella Levy, Jack Mosher, and Jerry Mosher.
Design and production staff include direction by Reed Brown, musical direction by Barbara Lipstadt, scenic and lighting design by John Iverson, wardrobe by Reba and Piper Shaw-Pichette, and production management by Hope Etheridge.
General admission tickets are $15 each. Cabaret-style tables in front of the stage offer seating for four people at $30 per person. Each table will receive a complimentary bottle of wine.
