Youth artist residency

BRATTLEBORO - In-Sight Photography Project is accepting applications for its 2023 Youth Artist Residency Program. Building on the pilot program from last winter, In-Sight is offering three to five local youths from 15 to 18 years old a unique opportunity to dive into an independent photography project. Participants will explore an idea, theme or technique using the photographic arts to produce artwork for a gallery exhibit.
The Youth Artist Residency will cover a nine-week period from February 20, 2023, at the start of February break through April 21, 2023, the end of spring break. During both school breaks, participants will spend 30 hours each week - a combined 60 hours - at In-Sight working with staff, equipment, and resources to complete their independent study project. In the seven weeks between breaks, participants will have access to In-Sight’s facility as needed and meet with staff for support. Participants will receive a $100 budget for materials, receive feedback from a visiting artist, as well as create a physical and digital portfolio of artworks. Their final work will be exhibited in In-Sight’s gallery with a public reception and documented in a photobook for them to keep and share.
Applications for the Youth Artist Residency can be found at insightphotography.org/residency and are due end of the day Monday, January 2. This opportunity is open to youth who have and have not taken a class with In-Sight, though some knowledge and experience in photography is necessary.
