Watch Puccini’s “Turandot” with backstage interviews

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - On Saturday, May 7, at 12:55 pm, the Clark Art Institute will screen The Met: Live in HD’s broadcast of Giacomo Puccini’s “Turandot.” The Met: Live in HD is an award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts that feature the full live performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.
Soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska stars in the title role of the legendary cold-hearted princess. Tenor Yonghoon Lee is the bold prince determined to win Turandot’s love, alongside soprano Michelle Bradley as the devoted servant Liù and legendary bass Ferruccio Furlanetto as the blind king Timur. Marco Armiliato conducts Puccini’s stirring opera, which takes the stage in the company’s dazzling, ever-popular production by Franco Zeffirelli.

Before the broadcast, at 11 am, the Clark’s Manton Study Center for Works on Paper will host an Print Room Pop-Up event presenting a sampling of prints, drawings, and photographs inspired by the nocturnal plot of Turandot. The event is free and open to the public but limited to fifteen visitors on a first-come basis. Enter through the Manton Research Center.
