BRATTLEBORO - Members of the Vermont Glass Guild will participate in “Vermont Blown Away,” a free glass-blowing demonstration presented in collaboration with the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, on Sunday, November 21, at 2 pm. Register at brattleboromuseum.org to watch live via Zoom.
“Vermont Blown Away” will take the form of a friendly competition among teams of glass artists. Items from BMAC’s study collection of ancient objects will be selected to inspire three-person teams to create new glass sculptures. Teams will have 15 minutes to design a piece and one hour to complete it. These glass pieces will be auctioned off at a later date to raise money for the Vermont Glass Guild’s education fund.
This event is presented in connection with “Vermont Glass Guild: Inspired by the Past,” on view at BMAC through March 2022. For the exhibit guild members created new works informed by objects from the study collection of ancient objects, which spans 4,000 years of history and dozens of cultures.
