Craft tour hits its 43rd year

PUTNEY - The 43rd annual Putney Craft Tour, the oldest continuing crafts tour in the country, will be held Thanksgiving weekend, from Friday, November 26, to Sunday, November 28, 10 am to 5 pm each day. Nineteen artists - glass blowers, potters, jewelers, weavers, painters, artisan cheesemakers, and winemakers - will invite visitors to come in to their studios, explore, ask questions, and buy one-of-a-kind gifts direct from the artisan who made it. Part of the fun is meandering through the beautiful Vermont countryside, following the map to find these prominent craftspeople and view the works where they are conceived and created. Several studios will do demos.
The weekend is promoted as “Putney Craft Tour’s Craft and Performance Weekend” with wine and cheese tastings and performances at night at Next Stage Arts and Sandglass Theatre. On the weekend of the tour the welcome center at Putney Mountain Winery will open at 10 am for information, maps, and a preview exhibition of the artisans’ works.
Masks must be worn in the studios.
For a complete list and background of artisans on the tour, including images of their work and any updates regarding COVID-19 as it relates to the studios, go to putneycrafts.com.
