Community market now open

WEST TOWNSHEND - The West River Community Market is open for pre-orders. The online market is a not-for-profit service that provides the community with safe, clean, and easy meals to order and pick up healthy, local farm produce, and other necessities in one location at the West Townshend Country Store.
The market evolved directly from the local food ordering service that began during Vermont’s stay-at-home order. It will continue to support Townshend Farmers’ Market vendors and many other wonderful local producers. The West River Community Market aspires to be a virtual, year-round market dedicated to fighting food insecurity while strengthening food sovereignty. It is committed to being a local food hub for the community and re-inventing the ways to do so. Help continue to grow the resilient community with a thriving and sustainable local food system.
The West River Community Project has launched a brand new website that will hopefully help improve the shopping experience. This week is a soft launch. The market will be rapidly expanding its selection in the weeks to come.
Some reminders and updates on how the shop will run this year: Place a pre-order online from Saturday to 10 pm Tuesday then select a time, Thursday or Friday, to pick up the order at the West Townshend Country Store. The market accepts 3squaresVT EBT. Need help paying for the order or would like to help a neighbor pay for theirs? Check out the Pay it Forward Program.
