Expedite your project with Permit Navigator, free and accessible

MONTPELIER- The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources’ Permit Navigator tool is a free service that offers guidance to Vermonters on what state environmental permits may be needed for their projects. Vermonters can use the Permit Navigator (https://bit.ly/3JImBf0) to make informed decisions about their project, including the cost of permitting and length of time required to follow state environmental regulations.  
Individuals, communities, and businesses can use the Permit Navigator to learn more about various permits such as on-site wastewater (septic), wetlands, or lake encroachment, including a brief explanation of the permit, time to issue the permit, application fee amounts, links to the applications, and program contacts and resources specific to the project location
Easy to use and available anytime, Permit Navigator directs users through a series of simple “yes, no, I don’t know” questions before producing a results page that specifies which permits are most likely needed for their project based on their answers and existing agency data. Users can then download or print the results page to use as a guide during the permitting and planning processes.  
For those with accessibility needs or technology issues, the agency has dedicated staff members who can help fill out the Permit Navigator questions at no cost to those who request this additional assistance.
This summer, community assistance specialists will also host online office hours, open for anyone to attend, to receive a Permit Navigator demonstration and ask any questions. Office hours are being held every other week on Wednesdays at 1 pm until July 20.
