Donald E. Elliott
BROOKLINE- Donald E. Elliott Sr., 77, a resident of Murdock Drive, died Sunday evening, February 28, at the Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend. He was born in Richmond Hills, NY, on March 22, 1932, the son of the late Robert G. Jr. and Bertha O. (Lindtveit) Elliott. He received his early education in Queens schools. Upon relocating to Vermont with his family he attended Wilmington schools and graduated from Leland & Gray High School in Townshend.
Mr. Elliot married the former Sylvia Bills in Townshend on December 21, 1949. Throughout his life, Don was a self-employed mechanic and truck driver. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and in earlier years shooting at the rifle range. He was a NASCAR fan and liked to follow his favorite driver, Kasey Kahne. He was a member and past master of the Brattleboro Lodge F&AM.
Mr. Elliot leaves his wife of 60 years, Sylvia C. Elliott, of Brookline; sons, Donald E. Elliott Jr. of Brookline and Ronald T. Elliott of Wilmington; daughters, Sharon A. and husband Richard Bastille, of Potsdam, NY, Margaret E. and husband Roger Hanson, of Arlington, and Cecelia K. and husband Tom Doheda, of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Robert G. Elliott III, of Wilmington; sister, Berte M. Evans, of Newfane; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, March 5, at 11 am at the Athens Community Church. Private burial will take place in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery in Brookline.
