ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Sandra Y. Crawford Eggleston died July 4, at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City due to complications from Crohn’s disease. She was 73 years old and she leaves her devoted husband, Robert Eggleston of Manteo.

Mrs. Eggleston was born in 1937 to Andrew and Kathleen Crawford, of Wilmington, VT. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1954. She received a degree from St. Joseph’s Business School majoring in bookkeeping and secretarial duties.

In 1957, she married Wallace Sage, Jr., of Wilmington, VT. She was the mother of Yvonne Sage Kendrick of Lexington, KY; Jared Sage of Manteo, NC, and Andrea (Katie) Whetstone. She leaves three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Eggleston also leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Peter Morris, of Wilmington; an aunt, Dot Crawford, of Brattleboro; and two cousins, Dana and Jay Crawford. She was beloved aunt of Peter Morris, Jr., Clifford Morris, Matthew Morris, and Sarah Tash.

Mrs. Eggleston was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Clifford, and her daughter, Katie. There will be no funeral service at this time. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
