All of the students who took part in the performance of “Peter Pan” at Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 15, are deserving of our praise for their fine work. But one student who played a big part in the staging of the play was omitted from the printed program.
I would like to thank Ellen Boles for her musical direction in the production of “Peter Pan” on Saturday, May 15. Her name was omitted from the program that was handed out at Memorial Hall as being the musical director. Ellen spent approximately six weeks choosing, learning, and teaching the music to the students who performed. The Wings program is meant to mentor all students who participate. This was not the case for Ellen, she felt all alone and no one helped her through the process. I feel that this was unprofessional on the part of the Wings adult mentors and in conflict with the mission statement of the Wings program to mentor all students. We thank Ms. Maddern for playing the piano at the middle school performance and being a true mentor to Ellen. We find the administration and director of the performance to be unprofessional and anything but a mentor.
If you would like to see Ellen’s exceptional piano playing she will be performing at the high school on May 20 for the tea at 7 pm.
