In addition to seeking agriculturally-themed parade units, the stroll is also looking for entertainers who wish to appear in the downtown events on Friday evening, or at the DairyFest and Green Expo on Saturday following the parade. In addition, businesses and organizations can sign up to have a presence at the DairyFest and Green Expo.
This year’s parade theme is “Milk ‘n’ Jazz — a Moo-sical Extravaganza,” and all parade participants are encouraged to use costumes, dance, puppets, and their imaginations to feature the jazz theme. The absolute deadline for parade unit applications is May 1, but Strolling encourages applications as early as possible.
Rick Chapin, parade coordinator, cautions that in general, no motorized vehicles except farm vehicles are allowed in the parade, and that animals other than draft animals need to be appropriately contained. Also, dogs are not allowed in the parade or on the sidelines (to avoid scaring the animals).
Parade participation is by invitation after the parade committee has received and reviewed the application. For questions about parade participation contact Chapin at rick.chapin@peoples.com or by phone at (802) 257-9300 or (802) 387-5505.
Booths at the Dairy Festival and Green Expo are available to all Strolling Weekend sponsors beginning at the $250 level. Businesses and organizations interested in sponsorship may contact Carrie Walker, general manager (cwalker@svcable.net or (802) 254-5546) or use the form available at the Web site. Booth deadline is April 1.
Information and registration forms for all event participants are posted at the Web site, www.strollingoftheheifers.com, under the “Participant Registration” tab. Forms may be downloaded in Microsoft Word format, filled out, and e-mailed to the event coordinators.
