Before the good citizens of Wilmington take the vote for or against the pergola, one and all should consider the following.
1) The park received the Green Mountain Award for best public space improvement in the state of Vermont. How about that! The town should be very elated? Is it?
2) If the pergola is to move, where will it be moved to? Is the land available without addition taxpayer funds?
3) Will the town raise taxes to remove the pergola, pay for new planning, site work, and construction?
4) What about the stone work in the park? Is it to be removed to a new site, stay at the present location or what? What about payments for the transfer of the stone and tree poles?
5) Who is to pay for new planning, site work and construction at the present site?
6) For the great many visitors to the town the pergola is a great improvement to the town. It looks like the state of Vermont agrees, with the pergola being an asset to Wilmington.
7) There are some people that would rebuild the park now. However, I have not seen any drawings, outlines or cost estimates of the visions they have.
I am sorry, but I cannot vote on any future questions on the removal of the pergola or park.
I do not live in Vermont, but I do spend a lot of time in the Wilmington area.
Wilmington has a great, unique park, which for many is art form and will be the cornerstone of the town for years to come.

Look at that, another TYPICAL, "you're not from here so screw you attitude"
You know, one of these days, the Town of Wilmington, and all of this incredible hoopla over this cute little park and great addition to our town is going to end up being made fun of by drudgereport.com, or possibly the tonight show. Then how stupid will you all feel!
The park is nice, leave it alone, and get onto other actual important topics such as, the massive traffic jams, the sinking economy of the area just to name a few.
If you can envison the Charles W Morgan being removed from your hometown and replaced by a dugout canoe, perhaps you'd understand the objections of some, not to the park, but to the pergola, though I did hear that Fred, Wilma and Dino are signing up to participate in the Australian ballot.
