The Maple Scholarship for Art Education, initiated by Dr. Juefei Wang, former director of the Asian Studies Outreach Program at the University of Vermont, and Vermont friends of the Arts College of Inner Mongolia University, is awarded to students from the Arts College who are “excellent in character and in scholarship, and to those who are in financial need. The aim of this unique scholarship program is to encourage students to study hard, to develop their talents and to promote ethnic Mongolian arts.” According to Connor, 50 talented arts college students with financial need have benefited from this scholarship since 2004.
There are currently 18 Chinese and Mongolian student and teacher performers living with host families in West River Valley towns, collaborating with Leland & Gray musicians, and performing throughout Vermont
In addition to a great breakfast, those in attendance will enjoy vocal, instrumental, and dance performances by students. The event takes place on Sunday, November 1, at the Jamaica Village School on Depot Street. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 am. Cost is $7 per person or a maximum of $25 per family, up to five people.
