Benefit 5k run for animal shelters

STRATTON- Paw meets pavement at Stratton Mountain Resort on Saturday, August 8, for the third annual Heel to Paws 5K Run to benefit the Second Chance Animal Shelter and Windham County Humane Society.

Fleet-of-foot human-dog tandems can register in the Mill House, centrally located in Stratton’s Village Commons, at 7:30 am. Racers, who are scheduled to cross the starting line at 9 am, will receive Heel to Paws 5K T-shirts as well as dog bones for their canine running companions in exchange for a $15 registration fee.

Racers and spectators alike are welcome to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the day’s activities. Here’s a look at the highlights:

Pet Tricks Contest-Life is Good wants to see a pet’s wildest tricks! Dogs will be prancing and hopping on their hind legs to win the judges’ favor at 11 am.

Super Nova Disc Dogs- Watch the Super Nova Disc Dogs soar, leap, and perform to the sound of music. The demonstration, scheduled for 1 to 2 pm, in Stratton’s Sun Bowl, promotes good training and good health.
