To the Editor

I wish to reply to Ms. Casey’s criticism of my letter to the editor in the April 9 issue. I would ask her to read my letter again and criticize what I wrote, not what she imagines I wrote.

Where in my letter do I even mention religion, which upsets her so much ? And why is it so offensive to her that I mentioned President Obama, Vice President Biden, the majority of the U.S. Congress, our own Supreme Court, as well as the vast majority of the Vermont Legislature that passed the civil union statute as stating that marriage is between one man and one woman.

She calls my comments “offensive and ironic.” Where is the offense and where is the irony? I do wonder if she has read my letter at all.
