DOVER- Mount Snow hosted a high school halfpipe competition on Thursday, February 11. Teams from Twin Valley, Green Mountain, Leland & Gray, Burr & Burton, Black River, and Vergennes participated.

According to Twin Valley High School snowboard coach Christine Abraham, her team is continuing to make progress during the season.

“We were up against some pretty good competitors,” said Abraham. “Everyone is stepping up their game and our riders are getting to know what they are up against. The Twin Valley snowboarders are really trying to push themselves up a place or two above other competitors, watching their competition to see what they need to work on the next couple of weeks to make the grade at states. The kids are so focused right now and it’s really great to watch. Everyone is improving little by little and pushing each other in small groups in practice. It’s really important to observe your teammates and help them as much as you can. That is the primary focus of our practices: To set a goal and be encouraged by the whole team until you achieve it.”

The area teams will be back in action at Killington on March 3, when the state competitons are held.
