Grafton- The Old Tavern at Grafton and the Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center are holding end of season events.

On Saturday, March 13, Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center will host its annual St. Patty’s Day-themed Leprechaun Leap Cross Country Race and fun relay races with barbecue. Entrants who wear a costume will get 30 seconds off their race time. Men’s and women’s 7.5K and 15K races will be held; classic or skate skiing welcomed. The fastest racers in each men’s and women’s race will win a 2010 season pass. A kids obstacle course race will also be held with prizes for the fastest racer. Register at 9 am on-site, 10 am start. Free for season pass holders. Other visitors $10 for race and barbecue.

Every March, The Old Tavern closes its doors during mud season, the unofficial fifth season of Vermont. To celebrate a great season with friends, the inn will host an end-of-season party and concert ons Sunday, March 14, at Phelps Barn. Big Red, the wood-fired flatbread pizza oven, will be fired up and chef David Smith will be making flatbread pizzas from 5 to 8 pm. Then, a free concert featuring Gypsy Reel, a popular local Celtic band, will be held at 8 pm.
