Now that the pergola opponents have been voted down you’d think that issue has been put to rest. Guess again.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about human nature it is that people don’t like to lose. I personally think that there is more than the aesthetics of a pergola involved. How about bruised egos? I can’t believe that there was only one bid to build the park. From what I’ve heard there were other bids and the winning bid was obtained through questionable tactics.

Undoubtedly the money could have been used more wisely but something had to be done with that corner lot. Be as it may the park with its pergola was built, it’s there, let’s move on. Next time there’s a town project maybe all townspeople should take part in it, from the planning stages to completion. And I don’t mean just show up at meetings but study all details and voice your opinion.

Don’t let the same mistakes repeat themselves. Just an opinion.
